The 20th and 21st centuries have witnessed technical, scientific, and technological turns. Today, Artificial Intelligence is propelling the fourth industrial revolution, with Diamesic Translation – including accessibility and professional reporting modes, like parliamentary and court reporting, TV (live) captioning, easy language translation – undergoing incredible changes, which cast opportunities and uncertainty over the future of these professions.

With the aim of navigating this fast-evolving context and disseminating pivotal experiences in the field, IPRS and the Intersteno Scientific Committee are pleased to announce ”DIAMESIC 7”, the 7th Intersteno conference on parliamentary and other professional reporting, captioning, and accessibility”, in Katowice (Poland), on 15-16 July 2024.

DIAMESIC 7 will delve into the scopes of transparency (court reporting, parliamentary reporting, minute taking etc.) and accessibility (live captioning, subtitles for the deaf and the hard-of-hearing, audiodescription, easy language translation, etc.), all considered under the umbrella of diamesic translation. The primary focus will encompass:

  • Diamesic Translation and Artificial Intelligence;
  • The theory of Diamesic Translation;
  • Technical, professional, and physical challenges of Diamesic Translation;
  • The teaching and training of Diamesic Translation;
  • Other related topics.

Abstracts of 1000 characters are welcome via email to c.eugeni@leeds.ac.uk by 15 April 2024, with "Diamesic 7 – submission proposal" specified in the email subject line.
